There may be, as Alyssa says, “one girl who is mean to you because of the way that you dress or the way or act or the friends you have.” This book shows how the main character, Nikki, fixes problems like that. “When Nikki is mad at the mean girl, Mackenzie, she wants to say something but just says it in her head so no one hears her… When you are mad at a girl that goes to your school or even one of your family members, this is a good book to show you what to do … so you don't get in trouble.” Alyssa gives this book a 5 out of 5!](https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/monroe_county_schools__ga_ar/article/image/large_cbcfdd96-a6c9-4285-b675-7c859f8b7cb2.png)

![Kamari Ellis recommends Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday, 7th grade MCMS student, Kamari Ellis, recommends the classic Green Eggs and Ham because "it's fun, & it'll put you in a good mood." He also notes that the actual foods, green eggs & ham, are delicious so he recommends those as well. He believes that the moral of the story is interesting as the protagonist, Sam, is eating green eggs & ham and wants the other guy to try them. Instead of trying them, the guy judges them. In the end, the other guy finally tries them and enjoys them. The moral of the story is "don't judge a book by its cover" which can be applied in real life situations "like making friends. You can't judge a person by how they look. Just get to know them so maybe you will like them." Kamari gives this book a 5 out of 5!](https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/monroe_county_schools__ga_ar/article/image/large_fad15328-0bc7-4c09-b21c-02e779633e4b.png)

![Isabelle Hickman recommends Wonder by R.J. Palacio Isabelle Hickman, an 8th grader, recommends this realistic fiction novel to her friends basically because "it's a really good book." There's an encouraging lesson learned that "being nice is actually a really good thing." The main character is very sweet, but he is bullied because of his differences. This should teach readers not to judge a book by its cover. She thinks "this book is amazing," and "teaching people not to bully" is what the school needs help with. She believes that "it might help." ![Connor Carr, an MCMS 7th grader, recommends this adventure novel to his friends because it has constant action which makes the entire book intriguing. Whereas "some books start off boring & have slow starts & slow pace, not this one - the action starts out as soon as the book starts." Beginning on the CIA campus with explosions, the hero avoids obstacles like hits & conspiracy theorists from there. The suspense lies in wondering who will win in the end - the good guys or the bad guys. He considers it to be a pretty easy read & thinks it is interesting as well. It will also help meet an AR goal & is just an all-around good book. One caveat is that he does recommend reading the other Spy School books before this one.
