Welcome to Monroe County Middle School

Herbert Chambers, Ed. S., is the new principal for Monroe County Middle School in Forsyth, Georgia. Prior to serving in the Monroe County School district, he was the principal of Griffin High School for three years (2021-2024). Before becoming a principal, he served as an assistant principal at Veterans High, Houston County High, and Baldwin High. 


For the 2024 school year, the goals are to provide safety and security to the staff and students everyday; to focus on building capacity with teachers to increase their instructional engagement for all students; and become a participating community member for the Monroe County people.


Mr. Chambers' instructional career began in his home town of Wilkinson County where he was a middle grades science teacher, he also taught in Washington, Houston, and Baldwin counties as well. He has always had success instructionally and believes in supporting a strong continuous learning environment for students and teachers. 

He is currently in his doctoral phase of his Educational Leadership Degree program at Georgia Southern University. He earned his Masters in Educational leadership, Specialist in Educational Leadership, and his Undergraduate degree in Health and Physical Education from Georgia College and State University. Mr. Chambers began his career in law enforcement in the late 90s.


He has 13 years of leadership experience in education. Education is important to the Chambers family. His wife Tiffany, and his three children, Tajhea, Tylon, and Ayonna all reside in the Middle Georgia area. He also has two grandchildren Krew and Sutton. 


Mr. Chambers is very excited to say that he is proud to be a part of the Forsyth-Monroe County community and looks to the future of helping our youth be better prepared to compete in the world, recruit and keep great teachers, and support continuous learning for all.
